Biography

Professor Saleem I. Abdulrauf serves as a Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery at George Washington University in Washington DC and holds the distinction of being the Neurosurgeon-in-Chief at the Abdulrauf Institute of Neurosurgery. Recognized for his pioneering contributions, he established the Department of Neurosurgery at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he held the position of founding Chairman.

A globally respected figure in neurosurgery, Dr. Abdulrauf has been invited as a visiting professor to over 100 universities worldwide. His significant literary contribution to the field includes authoring the seminal textbook, “Cerebral Revascularization,” focusing on extracranial to intracranial bypass surgery. Notably, he has developed a novel procedure in brain bypass surgery that bears his name.

Dr. Abdulrauf's leadership extends to numerous neurosurgical societies. He has been on the boards of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), the North American Skull Base Society (NASBS), and the World Federation of Skull Base Societies (WFSBS). His presidency of the Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT) and the Walter E. Dandy Neurosurgical Society stand out as a notable achievements.
