Dr. Konkalmatt received his B.S. in Horticulture and M.S. in Biochemistry from University of Agricultural Sciences, India, and Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Medical College of Ohio (University of Toledo), Toledo, OH. He received his post-doctoral training at the City of Hope National Medical Center, Duarte, CA. Dr. Konkalmatt is molecular physiologist with molecular biology background and special expertise in development and use of Adeno-associated viral (AAV) vectors for in vivo gene delivery. He independently developed and demonstrated therapeutic applications of AAV mediated cardiac specific gene expression in mouse model of ischemia and reperfusion injury. Dr. Konkalmatt has a US patent on the use of AAV vectors for gene delivery.
