Biography

Professor c has been involved in Clinical Research for the past decade. She is the owner and founder of a Clinical Research Education and Development company in her home country, South Africa. Professor Geldenhuys was instrumental in establishing a model for a professional development training program for clinical research staff in developing countries, and in developing a clinical Quality Assurance system for research field sites. While working for the University of Cape Town alongside global partnerships and consortiums she has worked towards developing new quality research sites in Africa. Through her extensive involvement with education and quality assurance in clinical research, she has been intimately involved with GCP at all levels, and has gained much insight into applying GCP principles to real-life scenarios in the field.

Professor Geldenhuys is the vice-chair of the South African Clinical Research Association’s (SACRA) subcommittee on GCP standardization in South Africa and an accredited GCP facilitator. She graduated with a Master’s degree in Clinical Research Administration from the George Washington University in 2008. She received the GWU Outstanding Health Sciences Graduate Student Award in that year. She also holds various degrees in Nursing, Midwifery and Neonatal care.
