Biography
Dr. Marc Siegel received his B.A. and M.D. degrees from Georgetown University, graduating cum laude and as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his residency training at Georgetown University Medical Center and subsequently started his own internal medicine practice in York, Maine. In 2007 Dr. Siegel started his infectious diseases fellowship at George Washington University. He joined the Division of Infectious Disease as a faculty member in 2009 and is currently the Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases and a Professor of Medicine. His areas of clinical interest include novel therapies for treatment of HIV, Preexposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for the prevention of HIV transmission, chronic hepatitis B and C, and prevention of COVID-19.
Dr. Siegel has served as the Principal Investigator for multiple HIV and HCV treatment clinical trials. He has been the Medical Lead on eight HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN) clinical trials looking at various forms of PrEP in men and women at risk of HIV infection. He is currently the Principal Investigator for a trial looking at using a long-acting injectable HIV medication to prevent HIV in women at risk of HIV acquisition.
