Professor Karen Schlumpf is an epidemiologist/data analyst with over 20 years of experience in research and statistical analysis. She has been teaching at The George Washington University since 2003. She currently serves as the Research Course Director and teaches courses in biostatistics, epidemiology, quantitative analysis and research methods. Professor Schlumpf has been recognized with the GWU Bender Teaching Award in recognition of excellence in the classroom and inducted into the GWU Academy of Distinguished Teachers.
Prior to becoming full-time faculty, Professor Schlumpf has conducted research focused on the issues of blood donation - assessing blood demand, collection, screening, processing and utilization. Other research experience includes neurogenetic linkage and gene mapping, infantile feeding disorders, and health service utilization.
