Biography

Ehsan Nobakht MD is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences and the fellowship program director for the Division of Nephrology at GW. He graduated from Tehran University of Medical Sciences and completed Internal Medicine residency and Nephrology fellowship at the George Washington University and was named Fellow of the Year, a distinct honor and acknowledgement of his clinical skills and for being a role model. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology, an honor bestowed upon only individuals, who have distinguished themselves through professional excellence, meritorious professional accomplishments, demonstrated scholarship and commitment to improving kidney health. Dr.Nobakht is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology.

Dr. Nobakht is the Director of the outreach services in Virginia and is the medical director of the Falls Church Somatus Dialysis unit that offers in-center hemodialysis and also various home-based renal replacement therapies. He is also the Medical Director of Fresenius Kidney Care Dialysis Unit in Hyattsville, Maryland.

Dr. Nobakht has consistently enhanced the reputation of GW nephrology division by his quality patient care and outstanding teaching skills. He has been invited to speak nationally and internationally. He is an excellent clinician with special expertise in management of acute kidney injury, electrolytes disturbances, resistant hypertension and chronic kidney disease including those who need kidney replacement therapies such as hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Dr. Nobakht is also an expert in kidney ultrasonography. His research interests include Kidney Ultrasound, Renal Cystic Disease and Precision Medicine using tools such as Pharmacogenetics. He has published more than 20 abstracts, book chapters and papers published in reputable peer reviewed journals such as Nature Reviews Nephrology, Kidney International Reports and American Journal of Kidney Diseases.
