Biography
Dr. Rentas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Laboratory Sciences at The George Washington University. With over 17 years of experience as a medical laboratory professional in various hospitals across the country and abroad and more than 20 years in education, Dr. Rentas has significantly contributed to both clinical practice and academic instruction.
Dr. Rentas earned her PhD from the Catholic University of America and has been a faculty member at George Washington University since 2013. She directs the Clinical Laboratory Management program and previously directed the undergraduate Medical Laboratory Sciences programs, enhancing the curriculum and aligning it with industry standards.
Her teaching portfolio includes courses in laboratory management and operations, clinical chemistry, hematology, urinalysis and body fluids, clinical chemistry, and immunohematology. Dr. Rentas is committed to educational excellence and integrates innovative teaching methods and technologies to improve student engagement and learning outcomes.
Her research interests focus on implicit bias and equity in healthcare and using sense-making tools to enhance understanding and retention of complex concepts. These interests aim to improve educational practices and patient care outcomes, reflecting her dedication to advancing the field of medical laboratory sciences.
